Spring blossoms

Pushing daisies, originally uploaded by <banisha>.

This is one of my new photos from the set Spring blossoms and it's dedicated to my special Daisy without whom I wouldn't have the inspiration to make this set. The set is so jolly and full of flowers, even one spider found it's way to it (but don't tell anybody, they might get scared :) )
Enjoy the spring in it's every colour and everything it brings.

iPhone photography

I never imagined iPhone as a photography device, but I guess I was wrong. In the hands of the right guy, this phone proofs to be every powerful. Check out sionfullana Flickr photo stream, especially fhe Faves section and see what I mean. He specializes in street photography, and most of his photos were taken in New York and Spain. Enjoy!

Going out at night - Cardiff

cold night - Cardiff, originally uploaded by © Maciej Dakowicz.

Going through my blogroll, reading some stuff, I stumbled on a Flickr photo set of young people going out and having fun (drinking) in Cardiff, Wales. The set is fenomenal, it has many great captures with real journalist value. Check it out!

PS And I thought we are behaving badly when we go out.

"Seven pounds" of my heart

I could say that i have a very selective taste for movies and everybody who knows me, lately noticed that I've been complaining about the quality of today's movie productions. Finding a good original movie these days is equal to finding a needle in a hay stack. Last really good movie that I saw, and I mean really, really good was Taken with Liam Neeson, until this diamond in the rough.

I started watching it not knowing anything about it and expecting absolutely nothing, but ended up with so much. First half of the movie is full of mystery and you see lot of things going on not knowing why. Catch those details (this movie is full of it), pay close attention and don't worry because everything will unfold and wrap up at the end and you'll have all the "be cause's" to your " why's". And it will touch you, straight to the heart, so for the feminine part of audience i would suggest preparing a box of tissues just in case.

The director obviously did an excellent job in making this truly touching story. I could also give few praises to the music which in a few places deliberately sounds broken and kind of hints the end of the movie.

I tried not give you any details and spoil you the experience but just to add one more time, this movie simply blew me out of my chair!

Photo is like a woman...

After reviewing the last photo I posted some more, I see that too many compromises have been made with it. I have to admit that I was in a hurry to post that one (don't know why).
  1. Firstly, I should have played a little more with the 'highlights' setting in Camera RAW, because I still notice that the left side of my face is burning too much.
  2. All I did with the faces was enhancing the eyes, I did not mingle with the rest, which I clearly should have done. My girlfriend already complained that I did not remove a little dot from her forehead :)
  3. I planned to edit the background in Photoshop, but I wasn't able to make a proper selection, and do a uniform background (Rada's hair gave me so much trouble). My friend Cveja did an excellent job with a photo of me, so I would have to go and pick up a few tips from him regarding that issue.
And I promise that in the future I will not rush the retouching, cause as said I said it the title:
Photograph is like a woman...you have to dedicate time to it and you can not rush it, if you wont to do things right. Maybe some of you guys have different tactics with women, but this one worked for me so I'll stick to it.

Those were some of my observations and if you have any, feel free to express them (not just regarding the photos, but anything that pops on your mind)
Until next time, I wish you all the best, and to my fellow photographers I wish clear lenses and sensors :)

Bane and Rada

Another photo from a shooting session at Cveja's place.
Maybe i'll retouch a couple more. At the moment i'm learning from some Kelby manuals, so hopefully my skills should improve.

Bane aka me :)

Bane, originally uploaded by mcveja.

This evening, Rada and I went to visit my friend Marko and his girlfriend Duska. In his flat Marko quickly set up a little home studio (two strobes and umbrella) and we did some shooting with his Canon 400D. This is one of the photos we took, actually Marko shot this one. An excellent photo, and I'm not saying that just because I was the model :)
You can visit Marko's blog at http://mcveja.blogspot.com/

Anti-Smoking Ads

A while ago when stumbling the Internet, i came across this page, with anti-smoking campaign ads. The one with a boy who has a 'smoke bag' on his head was the one that had most effect one me. The idea is simply stunning, and of course the Photoshop skills of the guy who made it are not to be underestimated. Other ads are also great and can be found on this page, but as I said this is my favorite.
And if you are smoking, QUIT NOW! :)
See ya

Hi everybody!

Hello guys and girls and welcome to my blog.
This blog is going to be about everything and nothing (just kidding :)), mostly about the things i do in my spare time, which is photography, computers, internet ,etc. Actually, I'm still not exactly sure what I'll write here. I guess the subjects will emerge as the time passes and ideas come to my head (if any :D).
You're most welcome to leave comments and suggestions.
Just blog, blog, blog.... :)
